Outside Living Areas:

The dining and living areas of the main floor have outswing French patio doors that open on to a South facing terrace. By having the outswing doors were are conserving area inside of the house. A trellis made of 8” Douglas fir posts and planted with deciduous vegetation will shade the doors in the summer months. The fiberglass doors will have no Low E glass and will be important in solar heat gain during the Winter months. The floors on the main floor will consist of plywood, tile backer board and travertine tile.

The North courtyard sits sheltered between the house and the upper retaining wall. We are hoping that this area will be nice in the summer and will provide enough privacy for an occasional outdoor bathing experience.
